Legacy videos are just that—yours or your loved one’s legacy captured in video form.

Not many people take the time and effort to write down their life story—a daunting task—yet a treasure for generations to posses.

Creating a Legacy Film makes it easy to have something even better.  A visual biography created in documentary form, complete with music, photographs, & hearing all the rich family stories directly from your loved one’s mouth.

All it takes is answering some simple questions from the comfort of your own home.

No preparation is necessary.

To start, tell us more about you:

We offer three different packages:

They all can be customized to fit your needs, and lower packages can always be upgraded later.

*Click on most bullet points for more explanation.*

This film will serve as a basic record of you or your loved one sharing their story, with pristine sound and video quality.

BASIC

Up to 3 hours of filming interview

This will take place at a location of your choice, typically your home or environment

Light editing to remove any long pauses, stumbles, or “do-overs”

Story will largely be just as the teller tells it

Interview questions may also be included for clarity sake

Optional add-ons:

Add a second person to the interview (such as a spouse) to tell another viewpoint $1000

Other parameters still apply

Delivery on Blu-ray disc $200

  • Blu-ray players have replaced DVD players and are capable of playing HD video, while DVD players are not
  • Additional copies of Blu-ray disc $20 each

A professionally edited, color graded, documentary film that will be entertaining and precious to future generations.

DELUXE

Everything in Basic package is included, plus the following:

Up to 120 photos submitted (All photos may not be used)

  • Photos really make the film look classy, and also fill in details about the story and of course the photos as you can hear about what you are seeing.
  • Photos must be organized, captioned (people or events identified), & in digital format. We can digitize or scan photos as an add on cost.

Full edit Typically edited down to 40 to 65 minutes

This makes the film a shorter and more watchable length, which helps keep the story moving and cohesive. It also holds the attention of most viewers better than the Basic package.

Music added

  • Music gives the film heart, and makes the story come alive and look less like a “talking head”
  • We don’t use cheap cheesy music

Raw footage provided

We load up all the footage that was shot onto a small hard drive for you to have forever

Optional add-ons:

Add a second person to the interview (such as a spouse) to tell another viewpoint $1000

Other parameters still apply

Digitize or scan submitted photos $360

3D photos / motion graphics $300

  • Many people’s jaws drop when they see the photo come alive as it is given dimension and movement. An example can be seen in the example video.
  • Not all photos work well for this.

Highlight version of film $1200

  • A shorter version of the documentary to just show some of the highlights
  • Typically 10 minutes or less
  • Great for social media

Delivery on Blu-ray disc $200

  • Blu-ray players have replaced DVD players and are capable of playing HD video, while DVD players are not
  • Additional copies of Blu-ray disc $20 each

Top of the line production similar to what you’d see on PBS, with beautiful imagery, captivating photos and video, all about you or your loved one. This package adds b-roll, which really makes it sing.

PREMIUM

Everything in Deluxe package is included, plus the following:

B-roll added

  • B-roll simply means video footage that is seen, but not heard. So as we are hearing something talked about in the interview we may see video of it as the person is talking. Home video can be amazing to see as b-roll.
  • Shots of interviewee walking or giving looks, or old memorabilia or maps or interacting with other people, can all be implemented as b-roll. Also simply shots of the home, knick knacks, pictures on the wall, etc. work great to add heart and beauty to the film.
  • B-roll must be shot at same time and location as interview.

Light photo restoration, if needed/possible

Old photos get damaged or may have had flaws to begin with. Some of this can be fixed and no one will be able to tell it was photo-shopped.

3D photos / motion graphics

  • Many people’s jaws drop when they see the photo come alive as it is given dimension and movement. An example can be seen in the example video.
  • Not all photos work well for this.

Home video incorporation: up to 4 hours

  • Video must be digitized and timecoded. By timecoded, we mean that we need to know what is on the tape and where. For example, “At 1:32:00 there is a shot of Dad getting in the new car.” Or “From 10 minutes and 40 seconds to 21 minutes is footage of the flood damage to the shop in ’93.”
  • All of the home video footage may not be used if it doesn’t fit into the story.
  • We can digitize video from VHS tapes for additional cost. If you have other formats let me know.

Delivery on Blu-ray disc

Digital file delivery also included, standard on all packages

Raw footage provided

We load up all the footage that was shot onto a small hard drive for you to have forever

Optional add-ons:

Second camera $1000

This adds interest and variety to the film to have another camera angle. It's especially beneficial when it is a two person interview.

Digitize or scan submitted photos $360

Highlight version of film $1200

  • A shorter version of the documentary to just show some of the highlights
  • Typically 10 minutes or less
  • Great for social media

Additional interviewees $500 - $2000

  • Add a friend, son/daughter, or anyone else to weigh in on the story
  • Number of people and additional times and locations can all affect price

Digitize VHS tapes

Price depends on number of tapes

Delivery on Blu-ray disc $200

  • Blu-ray players have replaced DVD players and are capable of playing HD video, while DVD players are not
  • Additional copies of Blu-ray disc $20 each

For all packages, delivery will be a high definition video file via download, flash drive, or on external hard drive. Blu-ray discs available at additional cost. DVDs will not support high definition video and so are not recommended.

Travel costs may apply if outside of 30 mile radius.

 About Leoti Films:

Hey there! I’m Kevin Carlson, the proud owner of Leoti Films, near Flandreau, South Dakota - just a stone’s throw from Sioux Falls.

My wife & I have five beautiful children & live on a small farm. We enjoy spending time together, exploring books, being outdoors, farming, & making things (usually for home projects). And we strive to make our love of Jesus the center of it all!

I'm a good listener, & love hearing about what it was like growing up on the farm or otherwise.  I believe everyone has a story worth telling, & I want to help preserve those stories.
